I need your help...

And that's really hard for me to ask. I've not asked for any help unless you count when I was first sick/diagnosed with MS and I started my heARTful of HOPE on ebay which raised just about $100 or so for us. (If that much)
We've had a couple family members & friends help us out a couple times over the past year.
Brian's job suffered a huge blow at the beginning of the year in this craptastic economy and he lost all his overtime. His pay was cut in half.
It's starting to pick up a little bit but in the meantime, we have an emergency.

And I don't know what else to do.

We have until this Wednesday to come up with $600 before our electricity is shut off.
And we need $150 for me to get my meds refilled that I've been doing without for the past couple weeks.
There are other things like being without tv for the past couple weeks and I'm sure our phones are next. But that's not a priority right now.
There are so many other causes going on right now and so many other people that I'm organizing things for that need help. But it's not fair to my family to help others while they do without. And I want to be caught up so I can do all these other things without any guilt.
(& with electricity)

So here's my idea...
I'm going to have a "Silent Auction" this week.
I know it will be too late for the Wednesday deadline but it will be soon enough after.
Here's what's for grabs....
My green Orla Kiely bowl filled with a Sun600 LMS polaroid camera, 1 package of polaroid film, a Mason ball jar filled with buttons (I haven't even opened it and went thru it) and a Mason ball jar full of vintage wooden thread spools in all different sizes. Wow, right?!?!?

Here's how it will work. If you are interested and want to bid, send me an e-mail (jamie_habermaas[at]yahoo[dot]com) with your highest bid that you're willing to pay. The highest bidder will win the auction. On Wednesday at Noon, I will post the current bidding price. The auction will then end on Friday at Noon.
If you have any questions, please leave them here in the comments or email me anytime.

Also, I will be doing custom embroidery.
This is an 8-inch Woodgrain tree trunk that I made for us that's hanging on the wall.
Custom embroidery similar to this one (but larger) in a 10-inch wooden hoop will be $30, including shipping.
If you're interested in a smaller or larger size, I also have those size hoops so just send me an e-mail for pricing.
I'll be adding things to my etsy all week long and will post updates here on the blog.
Think Christmas!
And if you're not interested in anything, please help by passing along the word or blogging about it or anything like that.
I know this won't pay it all but it will help.

Thanks so very much!

I'm so sorry to hear you are going through a hard time :( I can definitely sympathize with you. I've had to go without my RA medication several times because I was too proud to ask my parents to help me pay for it! It's a shame when we live in a world that would make us have to choose between electricity or our health :(

Unfortunately, I need all the money I can get right now, so I'm not in a place to help you... but I really hope that some of our amazing bloggy friends can find the generosity to help you out! I'm thinking of you :) I just wanted to let you know that you aren't alone and I know what you are going through!

Keep your chin up!! <3

OH!! And another thing...
I am not sure what sort of medication you are on, but working as a pharmacy technician, I have learned that nearly EVERY SINGLE name brand medication has some sort of discount program, or a coupon at the very least. One of my RA medications, Humira, has a program where your copay is $5, no matter what your insurance costs. All I had to do was fill out a form. The medication costs $1200 a month out of pocket, and $55 through my insurance company, so this program is DEFINITELY worth it.

I wouldn't know without a little research, but I am willing to bet that at least ONE of your medicines has some sort of manufacturer coupon or program you can enroll in. It's a little hassle getting it set up in the beginning, but I assure you it's worth saving every penny :)

Check the pharmaceutical company's website, or ask your doctor if they have any manufacturer's coupons. If you aren't sure where to look into this, PLEASE email me the name anything name brand that you are taking and I will ask one of the pharmacists that I work with to help me find something for you!

Oh Jamie! Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. It is so not fun to have to deal with these sorts of things. Trust me I have been there too many times to count! It is so frustrating! I would love to bid on that basket but my funds are limited as well. However I did post about it on my ole blog and I did just buy your super cute "Thats what she said" embroidery hoop!

Look for a little happy mail coming your way this week. It won't be much but I hope it will put a smile on your face!
XOXO

Jamie,

Very sorry to hear about your situation, i wish i could help so badly. if anything i can offer another warm heart and a prayer. i know that doesnt pay the bills though. from what i know, you sound like an amazing person and a wonderful mother, so im sure i dont even need to tell you this, but first and foremost through this rough spot, hug and love each other often and try to stay positive. i do pray that the help you need will be offered. bless you and your beautiful family.

Hi Jamie,
I too learned of you thru fellow blogger, Carrie. I wish I could help but my DH and I are basically in the same boat right now. He too was diagnosed with MS in April of 2008 about 2 months after I lost my job. We lost our home in March of this year and he just lost his Medicaid that covered his daily injections. We are still trying to figure out what we are going to do.

Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. *big hug*

Debbie

ps: I am originally from Southern Illinois!
