Some random Leap Day Ramblings...

Hey there!

(Yeah, totally obsessed with Hunger Games. More on that later...)
I mean... if anybody is still out there.
I swear I had the best of intentions to keep blogging but then I was overcome by anxiety, some depression and lack of motivation.
I hereby declare that I am escaping this rut/funk/whatever today. I am leaping into March with a renewed inspiration. I miss blogging. I miss my friends that meet me in this space. I miss just writing to write and get things out. It's something my soul needs and I can tell a difference when it's absent.
So here I am. Back. I'm making it a goal to blog at least 5 times a week in March and to get my mojo back. Today I decided to join the 30 Days of Lists to be inspired. (I love lists so much! This is perfect. I'm also going to do it with my boys.)
Lots of goals for March!

So, what else has been happening around here?
*Lots of sickness. We've ALL had the stomach flu that's been going around. Each week for the past 4 weeks, one of us has had it.

(photo from our local library during my monthly book club meeting...mommy's quiet time.)
*LOTS of reading by everybody in our home. I am so obsessed with Hunger Games, which got Brian interested. He started reading the series and in the meantime, Brennon started reading and completely passed Brian up and is already reading the entire series AGAIN. I love that. :) I already have my tickets for the midnight showing with friends and then we're going as a family that weekend. I can't wait!
But I've also been reading tons of other books! My most recent favorite was Extremely Loud & Incredible Close which I thought was one of the best written books I've ever read. Right now I'm reading "Wild Thing: The art of nurturing boys" which is also really good and right on point.

*We celebrated Brennon's birthday on February 20th. He turned 12 years old. (Seriously, where does the time go?)

*I blogged about my feelings after having some boudoir photos done. I got my pictures back and needless to say, Brian LOVED them. I did too. I felt truly beautiful. I've debated on posting any here on the blog but have sent the link to friends to see them. If you're thinking of doing it and want to see mine, send me an email or comment and I'd be happy to share them with you (as long as you understand that you'll see more of my cleavage than you may care to see and as long as you're female). ha!

*If you've been around here long, you know that I've shared some of my past battles with depression and anxiety. I plan on sharing more about this. While I'm always very "real" in this space, I know it can help to share our experiences with others (helping us and others that it may reach) so I plan on doing even more of discussing this topic because it's a huge part of my life.
I can't believe I haven't shared this before but I was included in a book with stories of depression. I wrote some of my story and it's in the book. The book is really good! (& I'm not just saying that because I'm in it, lol) What I didn't include in my story because I had forgotten or chose to leave out, was found in the other stories. So the title rings very true...You're not alone.
It's called Not Alone: Stories of Living with Depression.
Check it out and let me know what you think!

*Grayson has started basketball so we're busy with games during the next 6 Saturdays. He loves it tho. 2 of his best friends are on his team so we take turns driving to practices which is nice. It's been pretty cool to see how the boys have grown in just a year and how much better they are this year.

*I'm very active on Instagram and it's quickly become my favorite social media site. I love seeing the "everyday" of my friends that are on there. If you're on there and I don't follow you, please let me know so I can! I'm @inspiredmess on there.

*Still losing weight and am down about a total of 25 pounds. I've seriously been slacking in the exercise department tho. I plan on getting back at it tomorrow! Brian and I made it a goal to exercise every single day in March. (Tho we also decided that fun in the bedroom also counts as exercise for the day. ha!)

A HUGE congrats to my dear Janel who welcome baby Amelia into the world early this morning!!!!
Soooo exciting! I know many of you have also followed her adoption story and it's such an amazing thing!!! I can't wait to kiss those chubby cheeks!!!

I'm looking forward to changing some things around here on the blog, sharing lots of stories & getting back to me. It's been way too long.
Thank you for sticking with me through it all.
xoxo

  1. Welcome back. I must admit that you are the main reason I went to Target after work and bought Hunger Games. I'm actually afraid to start reading it tonight b/c I don't want to get sucked in and kept awake reading all night! Ha! I think I'll read EL&IC before seeing the movie. I've heard it is good. Do you read actual books or do you have a kindle/iPad/etc?

  2. You Look Amazing!!!! Seriously girl... 25 pounds is a big deal!! Congratulations! I like the idea of exercising every day in March. I think I'm gonna do it too! And bedroom bouncing does count... it's equal to a 10 mile jog! (I read that somewhere in a fitness mag, hehe).
Hunger Games is pretty stinkin' cool. I am so excited for the movie!! I'll be out of town when it comes out, but the hubs has promised to take me once we get back! Yay for movie dates!
Miss your face! Love you, love your show! xoxo

  6. You look fantastic Jamie!

I've been going through my own bouts of depression and anxiety since the beginning of the pregnancy with Zoey. It's been a rough 2 years, and I'm finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Believe it or not, you have been a great inspiration to me. You've always been so postive and loving to everyone. Thank you. <3
